Odd Bjørndal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arne Sandal, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. When Yngve Nereng fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AFRIKA's protests and gave Yngve Nereng a yellow card for diving instead. In the 68th minute, Yngve Nereng hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in AFRIKA's zone, Stian Emanuelsen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Odd Bjørndal came out of the goal and Stian Emanuelsen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jon-Erik Grønås might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Frode Bjørvik. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jon-Erik Grønås ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of AFRIKA booed when Myxicans was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The AFRIKA supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing AFRIKA would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
