After a defensive mix-up in Skagnes's zone, Henning Grønbech stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hans-Petter Antonsen came out of the goal and Henning Grønbech tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mats Halvorsrud took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jon-Egil Torkildsen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15th minute Bjørn Harnes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mats Halvorsrud saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 18th minute, Bjørn Harnes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mats Halvorsrud was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Jon-Egil Torkildsen struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Mats Halvorsrud didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Skagnes. Bjørn Harnes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jan-Frode Stølen hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Mats Halvorsrud showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jon-Egil Torkildsen, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. If Bjørn Harnes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Torgeir Groth to strike the kick off in the second half. Hans-Petter Antonsen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Torgeir Groth, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Bjørn Harnes might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mats Halvorsrud. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mats Halvorsrud tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 62 minutes, Jon-Egil Torkildsen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Skagnes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jon-Egil Torkildsen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Skagnes booed when Bompi Bjørnene was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hans-Martin Sveen didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee ignored Bompi Bjørnene's protests and gave Ole-Jostein Ingebrigtsen a yellow card for diving instead. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mats Halvorsrud showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 79th minute, Hans-Martin Sveen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 80 minutes into the match, Skagnes's Martin Forseth broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Jørgen Evenrud's late challenge caught a Skagnes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jørgen Evenrud helped the player get up and apologised. In the 81st minute, Jørgen Evenrud hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bompi Bjørnene's Henning Grønbech got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jon-Egil Torkildsen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mats Halvorsrud having to interfere. Bjørn Harnes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mats Halvorsrud read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. Jon-Egil Torkildsen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bjørn Harnes got free with Mats Halvorsrud in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Bompi Bjørnene fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Skagnes were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
