Finn-Christian Lilleås showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Espen Buene, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. RIVER CITY's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tim Schou was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. After 58 played minutes RIVER CITY got a freekick which was hit by Bjarne Grønnestad. Max Thomassen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tim Schou, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Finn-Christian Lilleås didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 63rd minute, which inside left pole to 2-3. Christoffer Høiberg struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Max Thomassen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Smolan. After 75 minutes Smolan's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Henrik Folkvord who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Henrik Folkvord almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Smolan's Finn-Christian Lilleås did a great save. 77 minutes into the match, Tim Schou notched a goal, 3-3, to the right of RIVER CITY's Max Thomassen. Max Thomassen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tim Schou in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Max Thomassen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edvard Aure received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Finn-Christian Lilleås tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 83rd minute, Thomas Bruun hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 85th minute, Espen Buene ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Finn-Christian Lilleås was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-4. Smolan's Finn-Christian Lilleås played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Espen Buene in the 89th minute of play. The RIVER CITY supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing RIVER CITY would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
