Larsen Hotspurs's supporters rose to their feet, but Kenneth Skjold was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ole-Petter Nærø breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Oddvar Jønsson struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Cornelius Ring didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Trondheim FC. Ole-Gunnar Reigstad kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Cornelius Ring showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrik Ramstad, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. 29 minutes into the match, Larsen Hotspurs's goal looked a bit too open when Jostein Aamodt came free, but Cornelius Ring reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 30th minute, Jostein Aamodt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Patrik Ramstad's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cornelius Ring was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. Cornelius Ring came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Trondheim FC's Patrik Ramstad. But to his dismay, Patrik Ramstad quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. If Oddvar Jønsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stig Røren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Patrik Ramstad fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cornelius Ring having to interfere. If Patrik Ramstad had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Trondheim FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Asmund Høgberg to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Trondheim FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gjøran Kolnes came free, but Ole-Petter Nærø reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Larsen Hotspurs's zone, Sverre Synnes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cornelius Ring came out of the goal and Sverre Synnes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cornelius Ring stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Patrik Ramstad's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. In the 59th minute of the match Martin Mæhlum shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cornelius Ring showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Patrik Ramstad came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Trondheim FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patrik Ramstad couldn't finish the play. When Trondheim FC's Patrik Ramstad in the 66th minute got a chance for a shot 66th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Larsen Hotspurs's goalie prevented a goal. Tim Skråmestø hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Patrik Ramstad scored 0-2 in the 77th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cornelius Ring, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 81 minutes into the game, Asmund Høgberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Larsen Hotspurs's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Trondheim FC the free kick. In the 81st match minute, Larsen Hotspurs was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Asmund Høgberg to maneuver through the defense. Cornelius Ring took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patrik Ramstad, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
