But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alf-Inge Espe couldn't finish the play. Cent Stigen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Torkel Stigen in the 10th minute of the match. With a little luck, Hippopotamus Amphibius FC's Bård Bjørgum got control of the ball when Alf-Inge Espe tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Torkel Stigen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bård Bjørgum showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John-Einar Vike, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. If Christer Bratvold had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christer Bratvold in the 21st minute of play forced Oslo Patriots's goalkeeper Cent Stigen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 29 minutes, Alf-Inge Espe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Oslo Patriots's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alf-Inge Espe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bård Bjørgum was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but John-Einar Vike showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 31 minute of play. In the 35th minute Christer Bratvold shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cent Stigen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 39 minutes, Christer Bratvold managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hippopotamus Amphibius FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Christer Bratvold was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Oslo Patriots's zone, Christer Bratvold stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cent Stigen came out of the goal and Christer Bratvold tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 46 minutes, Kristoffer Fløysvik mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Oslo Patriots and the Hippopotamus Amphibius FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Hippopotamus Amphibius FC booed when Oslo Patriots was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kristoffer Fløysvik didn't get a good kick on the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when John-Einar Vike made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute of the match Jonas Selvåg sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bård Bjørgum skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Alf-Inge Espe managed to get in a good position for a shot. Oslo Patriots's supporters rose to their feet, but Alf-Inge Espe was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bård Bjørgum breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 59th minute, John-Einar Vike left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Oslo Patriots fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Christer Bratvold received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Cent Stigen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 69 minutes into the match, Oslo Patriots's John-Einar Vike sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bård Bjørgum narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alf-Inge Espe in the 71st minute of play forced Hippopotamus Amphibius FC's goalkeeper Bård Bjørgum to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alf-Inge Espe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bård Bjørgum having to interfere. After 90 minutes, Halvard Sollie mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hippopotamus Amphibius FC and the Oslo Patriots players grew even worse after the yellow card. Halvard Sollie hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. It was a well-played corner which Herman Haug managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Oslo Patriots were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Hippopotamus Amphibius FC for a fine match.
