The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anthony Miccoli helped the player get up and apologised. In the 3rd minute, Anthony Miccoli hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Halvard Lindanger took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stein-Roger Trana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Østdal defense, Mats Haldorsen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kenneth Kirkevold. The Østdal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kenneth Kirkevold should have stopped the shot. In the 14th match minute, Østdal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stein-Roger Trana to maneuver through the defense. When Stig-Inge Hodneland came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the MAXIMUS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stig-Inge Hodneland couldn't finish the play. After 20 minutes, Stig-Inge Hodneland mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the MAXIMUS and the Østdal players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to MAXIMUS getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Stig-Inge Hodneland hit a great ball. 23 minutes into the game, Daniel Goa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Østdal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave MAXIMUS the free kick. In the 23rd minute, Daniel Goa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Anthony Miccoli lost his temper 27 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Stig-Inge Hodneland received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Kenneth Kirkevold tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Stig-Inge Hodneland got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Alfred Holvik had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Stein-Roger Trana made a kick off. Tor-Andre Torvund could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Halvard Lindanger made a huge save. 58 minutes into the match, MAXIMUS's Mathias Røren sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kenneth Kirkevold narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Stig-Inge Hodneland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 66th minute Stig-Inge Hodneland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kenneth Kirkevold saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 71 minutes of play, Østdal's Tor-Andre Torvund made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Halvard Lindanger was left in no man's land by his defense there! Alfred Holvik hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Kenneth Kirkevold made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stig-Inge Hodneland in the 77th minute of play. Stig-Inge Hodneland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lars Lundal in the 82nd minute of play forced Østdal's goalkeeper Kenneth Kirkevold to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stig-Inge Hodneland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 95th minute Stein-Roger Trana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Halvard Lindanger saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. MAXIMUS's Stig-Inge Hodneland got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Chants of Østdal echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as MAXIMUS had held the ball for most of the match.
