The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tom Oma hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. In the 3rd minute of the match Peter Shilton shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Inge Heggedal showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Kenneth Abelsen struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Tore Salamonsen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for OROMIA. Trosvik IF's Tore Salamonsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kenneth Abelsen in the 11th minute of play. Kenneth Abelsen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Georg Aarrestad had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kenneth Abelsen might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tore Salamonsen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kenneth Abelsen ran back to his position shaking his head. Tore Salamonsen was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Kenneth Abelsen showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 17 minute of play. Kim Hartmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The OROMIA fans' excitement grew in the 32nd match minute when OROMIA's Kenneth Abelsen looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Kenneth Abelsen managed to get in a good position for a shot. OROMIA's supporters rose to their feet, but Kenneth Abelsen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tore Salamonsen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 47 minutes into the match, Georg Aarrestad had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tore Salamonsen. Trosvik IF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Georg Aarrestad was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kim Hartmann to make the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, OROMIA's goalkeeper Inge Heggedal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Oscar Bakken. If Stian Torjussen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. OROMIA's Kenneth Abelsen got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Kenneth Abelsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ulf-Hendrik Hageland's late challenge caught a OROMIA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 77th minute Kenneth Abelsen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tore Salamonsen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tore Salamonsen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Georg Aarrestad in the 79th minute of play. Tore Salamonsen came out of the goal in the 82nd minute to try and stop a shot by OROMIA's Kenneth Abelsen. But to his dismay, Kenneth Abelsen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. 89 minutes into the match, OROMIA's goal looked a bit too open when Kim Hartmann came free, but Inge Heggedal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. OROMIA fully deserved thier win.
