Filip Vennegoor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anton Kauffeld in the 12th minute of the match. Sjors Plescher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Tonnie Wisgerhof who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 22ndth minute tested the skills of Kees Latten when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Kolderwolde's Ivo Waesbergen got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Filip Vennegoor didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Anton Kauffeld went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the Arsenal FC defense, Ivo Waesbergen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Filip Vennegoor. The Arsenal FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Filip Vennegoor should have stopped the shot. When Sjors Schenkhuizen fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kolderwolde's protests and gave Sjors Schenkhuizen a yellow card for diving instead. Sjors Schenkhuizen hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. If Herman Reis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 35 minutes of play, Kolderwolde's Gert Jan Walregt made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Filip Vennegoor was left in no man's land by his defense there! Filip Vennegoor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stefano Veltrop, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. A collision led to Kolderwolde getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Gert Jan Walregt hit a great ball. Kees Latten made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tonnie Wisgerhof in the 44th minute. When Tonnie Wisgerhof came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Arsenal FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tonnie Wisgerhof couldn't finish the play. After the first half Kolderwolde were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Kees Latten dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4.
