David Pronk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Niek Waidijk having to interfere. Japke Collins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Niek Waidijk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jhon Zwiers kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Inactive's Niek Waidijk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Pronk in the 17th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Inactive's zone, Bram Cramer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Niek Waidijk came out of the goal and Bram Cramer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 19 minutes, Bram Cramer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Zwartewaal HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bram Cramer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that David Pronk's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Niek Waidijk was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. Bram Cramer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Niek Waidijk having to interfere. Barry van Loo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfred Pragt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 32 minutes into the match, Zwartewaal HC's goal looked a bit too open when Wesley Veenema came free, but Barry van Loo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Barry van Loo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wesley Veenema in the 35th minute of play. In the 37th minute, one of Zwartewaal HC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Zwartewaal HC. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell David Pronk to make the kick off.
