In the 11th minute Gert Roodenburg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gerrit van Veldhuizen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 13 minutes into the match, Auke Brugmans notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Varsselder HC's Gert Strobos. Gert Strobos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gerrit van Veldhuizen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gert Roodenburg in the 17th minute of play. In the 21st minute, Varsselder HC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Auke Brugmans fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Gerrit van Veldhuizen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arno Ricksen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arno Ricksen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gert Strobos made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Auke Brugmans sent off a good shot on target. F.C. Limburg's Gerrit van Veldhuizen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arno Ricksen in the 32nd minute of play. Gert Roodenburg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to F.C. Limburg getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Henry Hoezen hit a great ball. Gert Roodenburg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Arno Ricksen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Varsselder HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Arno Ricksen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gerrit van Veldhuizen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Gert Roodenburg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Gerrit van Veldhuizen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 63 played minutes Arno Ricksen rounded F.C. Limburg's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jan Westerhof in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gert Strobos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Auke Brugmans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Gert Strobos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gert Strobos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Auke Brugmans in the 82nd minute of the match. Arno Ricksen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerrit van Veldhuizen having to interfere. After some careless play in the Varsselder HC defense, Jan Westerhof kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gert Strobos. The Varsselder HC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gert Strobos should have stopped the shot. For all the effort they put into the match, the Varsselder HC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for F.C. Limburg.
