When Stijn Ottens fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored The Gabbermatehooligans's protests and gave Stijn Ottens a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of FC Volendam booed when The Gabbermatehooligans was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stijn Ottens didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nigel Maurits struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Eddy Zwarthoet didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Volendam. When the match clock showed 15 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Nigel Maurits sped through The Gabbermatehooligans's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Eddy Zwarthoet. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nigel Maurits in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eddy Zwarthoet saved The Gabbermatehooligans from getting behind. In the 23rdth minute of the game Nigel Maurits who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but The Gabbermatehooligans's Eddy Zwarthoet was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nigel Maurits in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eddy Zwarthoet saved The Gabbermatehooligans from getting behind. When the match clock showed 30 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Nigel Maurits sped through The Gabbermatehooligans's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Eddy Zwarthoet. FC Volendam's defense didn't have a chance, in the 45th minute, when Dennis de Zeeuw scored to the left of an out of position Remco Stuijt, making the score, 1-3. After the first half FC Volendam were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

FC Volendam made a substitution. Roelof Heikens replaced Andy Wisgerhof. FC Volendam's Oscar Brugmans was substituted for Lucas Kolkman. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nigel Maurits made a kick off. A very good chance. 73 minutes into the game, Oscar Brugmans recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Eddy Zwarthoet. Oscar Brugmans showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-4. When Nigel Maurits came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the FC Volendam fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nigel Maurits couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Brugmans in the 78th minute of play forced The Gabbermatehooligans's goalkeeper Eddy Zwarthoet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Oscar Brugmans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nigel Maurits's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 88thth minute, Eddy Zwarthoet skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Nigel Maurits recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Remco Stuijt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix de Visser, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. FC Volendam's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
