Spectators: 7351 (Terracing: 5514, Seating: 1690, VIP seats: 147) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Humberto Spiljard started the match with the kick off. Jeffrey Fikkers recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hans Staal took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mike Steyns. Mike Steyns dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After 13 played minutes Queen Eertje United got a freekick which was hit by Wilco Borst. 15 minutes into the match, Ajax FC's Hans Staal sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mike Steyns narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Ricky Haan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mike Steyns showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hans Staal, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. When Hans Staal came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Ajax FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hans Staal couldn't finish the play. In the 33rd minute Hans Staal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mike Steyns saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mike Steyns showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeffrey Fikkers in the 34th minute of the match. Hans Staal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Mike Steyns tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 40 played minutes Queen Eertje United got a freekick which was hit by Herman Beishuizen. In the 41st minute of the match Rudolf Harmsen sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mike Steyns skillfully saved the ball. Jeffrey Fikkers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Queen Eertje United players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ajax FC were winning 0-2.

Mike Steyns made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hans Staal in the 57th minute of play. Bram Wessel charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bram Wessel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 61 played minutes Queen Eertje United got a freekick which was hit by Bram Wessel. In the 71stth minute of the game Humberto Spiljard who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ajax FC's Wim Koeling was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Wim Koeling showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Humberto Spiljard in the 76th minute of the match. Mike Steyns took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arie Bosschaart, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th minute, Herman Beishuizen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Queen Eertje United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. A collision led to Ajax FC getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Arie Bosschaart hit a great ball. Ricky Haan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wim Koeling having to make a save. The Ajax FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ajax FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
