Rolf De Raedemaecker got his second yellow card in the match during the 31st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Vincent Zijden didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for V.V.ONT. Dolf van Zwieten took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Theo van Kampen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. V.V.ONT's Dolf van Zwieten played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Theo van Kampen in the 44th minute of play.

He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 81st minute of the match Aad de Haan shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dolf van Zwieten showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 85th minute, Sjaak Moorlag hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 88 played minutes Manchester United got a freekick which was hit by Aad de Haan. In the 94th match minute, V.V.ONT was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henk Landzaat to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, V.V.ONT's Dolf van Zwieten got control of the ball when Heiko Appel tried to sneak it across the goal line. The V.V.ONT support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
