Rode Ster Blijham's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hofte the free kick. After a rather tough play, Rode Ster Blijham's Riemer Scholte got a free kick in the 4th minute. If Raymond Averdijk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Rode Ster Blijham defense, Raymond Averdijk kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Michael Evans. The Rode Ster Blijham fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Michael Evans should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barry Bos in the 13th minute of play forced Hofte's goalkeeper Gijsbert Koster to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Izaak van der Linden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Thomas Sybering during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Rode Ster Blijham booed when Hofte was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thomas Sybering didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jens Okkes in the 22ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gijsbert Koster, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Jens Okkes did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Gijsbert Koster 22 minutes into the match. Jens Okkes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Gijsbert Koster tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hofte's goalkeeper Gijsbert Koster, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Barry Bos charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Barry Bos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 34th minute, Barry Bos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 36th minute, Brain Warringa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Michael Evans was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Michael Evans showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brain Warringa, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. 44 minutes into the match, Rode Ster Blijham's Barry Bos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gijsbert Koster narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After the first half Hofte were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Raymond Averdijk was the one to do the kick off. Izaak van der Linden hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After 55 played minutes Rode Ster Blijham got a freekick which was hit by Riemer Scholte. Hofte's Gijsbert Koster played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jens Okkes in the 58th minute of play. If Barry Bos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 66 played minutes Rode Ster Blijham got a freekick which was hit by Jens Okkes. 67 minutes into the match, Hofte's Raymond Averdijk sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Michael Evans narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 79th minute of the game. One of Rode Ster Blijham:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Hofte:s goal. The goalkeeper, Michael Evans, was totally fooled by Hofte's Reinhard Jans, who 81 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Jens Okkes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Gijsbert Koster tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 98 minutes of play, Rode Ster Blijham's Jens Okkes made it 3-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gijsbert Koster was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Rode Ster Blijham supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Hofte's performance. The match ended with a win for Hofte.
