The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lennart Koekkoek charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lennart Koekkoek the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Ajax Waspik booed when Rith was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lennart Koekkoek didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 10 played minutes Ajax Waspik got a freekick which was hit by Gert Heije. 14 minutes into the match, Marcel Rensenbrink notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Ajax Waspik's Wessel Eschendaal. Wessel Eschendaal was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 17th match minute, Ajax Waspik was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martijn de Graaf to maneuver through the defense. In the 18th minute, Marc Roewen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wessel Eschendaal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marc Roewen in the 28th minute of the match. Wessel Eschendaal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marc Roewen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Rith's zone, Benedicto Llorian stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thijs Bemmel came out of the goal and Benedicto Llorian tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lennart Koekkoek hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice moves Martijn de Graaf could shoot a difficult shot in the 40th minute, which Thijs Bemmel however easily saved by the left post. Luuk Waard recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marc Roewen to strike the kick off in the second half. Marcel Rensenbrink recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Ajax Waspik's Benedicto Llorian got a free kick in the 55th minute. Marcel Rensenbrink sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Benedicto Llorian managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ajax Waspik's supporters rose to their feet, but Benedicto Llorian was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thijs Bemmel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Benedicto Llorian received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Thijs Bemmel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Ajax Waspik's Jan Rein Telkamp got a free kick in the 70th minute. Erwin Kamps didn't quite understand what happened when in the 72 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. When Benedicto Llorian fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ajax Waspik's protests and gave Benedicto Llorian a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Rith booed when Ajax Waspik was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benedicto Llorian didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Rith defense, Benedicto Llorian kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Thijs Bemmel. The Rith fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Thijs Bemmel should have stopped the shot. Luuk Waard fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 95th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. Rith succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ajax Waspik had controlled the match.
