After a rather tough play, vv viberator's Gerjan van Nistelrooij got a free kick in the 13th minute. 16 minutes into the game, Domenik Roorda was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. IJmuiden's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave vv viberator the free kick. Fokke Kikkert fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Demy Rodenboog having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Bennie Visscher managed to get in a good position for a shot. IJmuiden's supporters rose to their feet, but Bennie Visscher was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eelco Crans breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jacco Klerk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Eelco Crans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 35 minutes into the match, IJmuiden's Bennie Visscher sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eelco Crans narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jacco Klerk sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

A collision led to vv viberator getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Bruno Huisingh hit a great ball. Eelco Crans showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jacco Klerk, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 58 minutes into the match, vv viberator's goal looked a bit too open when Bennie Visscher came free, but Eelco Crans reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Jacco Klerk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rein Tinselboer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eelco Crans having to interfere. Bruno Huisingh kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. 69 minutes into the game, Bart Kinear was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. IJmuiden's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave vv viberator the free kick. Gerjan van Nistelrooij's late challenge caught a IJmuiden's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gerjan van Nistelrooij helped the player get up and apologised. Bennie Visscher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 77 played minutes vv viberator got a freekick which was hit by Jacco Meppelink. In the 78th minute Jacco Klerk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eelco Crans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 81 played minutes vv viberator got a freekick which was hit by Fokke Kikkert. Jacco Klerk might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eelco Crans. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jacco Klerk ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 84th minute, Jacco Klerk left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The IJmuiden fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. IJmuiden's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
