But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that John Klasens couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Overhoven Excelsior getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Klaus Brugmans hit a great ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when John Klasens stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Harm Aalders was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Overhoven Excelsior's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Smoothpapies the free kick. After 52 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Overhoven Excelsior! Robin Geerdink walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. 0-3 became the score in the 57th minute when John Klasens elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 60th minute, Bjorn Smibum ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Reinier Hardering was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. In the 64th minute, John Klasens reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ruud Vliet. The goal made the score 1-4. Ruud Vliet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John Klasens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Patrick Sloedingen struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Reinier Hardering didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Overhoven Excelsior. Pascall Paas hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jens Struik during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ruud Vliet went to the wrong direction when Robin Geerdink was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. When Jean-Paul Erenstein fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Overhoven Excelsior's protests and gave Jean-Paul Erenstein a yellow card for diving instead. After 81 played minutes Overhoven Excelsior got a freekick which was hit by Jean-Paul Erenstein. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bjorn Smibum in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Reinier Hardering prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 86 minutes into the match, FC Smoothpapies's John Klasens sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ruud Vliet narrowly saved just below the crossbar. FC Smoothpapies's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Robin Geerdink in the 88th minute. Overhoven Excelsior's Ruud Vliet proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Overhoven Excelsior from getting a goal against them. In the 97th minute, Gerard Dekens hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice moves Godfried Lans could shoot a difficult shot in the 100th minute, which Ruud Vliet however easily saved by the left post. The Overhoven Excelsior fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. FC Smoothpapies were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
