Zoelen's Henk Knuppel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Herman Staal in the 5th minute of play. In the 8th minute, Gerwin Vonk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jef Lyesen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Riemer Scheer in the 77th minute of play forced Hoofdorp HC's goalkeeper Herman Roeles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute, Wessel Heubach got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
