The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dolf Zon in the 7th minute of play forced Elshout's goalkeeper Falco Fuchs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arjen Braamhaar hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Falco Fuchs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teun Lamberts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 13th match minute, Elshout was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arjen Braamhaar to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Elshout's zone, Teun Lamberts stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Falco Fuchs came out of the goal and Teun Lamberts tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 18 minutes, Teun Lamberts managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ter Heijde aan Zee's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teun Lamberts was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 21st minute, Teun Lamberts ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Falco Fuchs was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Derk Wansink took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Falco Fuchs. Elshout's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 29 minutes into the match, Elshout's Geert Woering sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sander Moek narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geert Woering in the 31st minute of play forced Ter Heijde aan Zee's goalkeeper Sander Moek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Geert Woering had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 35 minutes, Arjen Braamhaar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Elshout and the Ter Heijde aan Zee players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 35th match minute, Elshout was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arjen Braamhaar to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Dolf Zon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ter Heijde aan Zee's supporters rose to their feet, but Dolf Zon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Falco Fuchs breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rein Lute received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Sander Moek tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Elshout's Arjen Braamhaar got his second yellow card of the match in the 43rd minute. The referee ordered Arjen Braamhaar off the ground. The supporters of Ter Heijde aan Zee booed when Elshout was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arjen Braamhaar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Teun Lamberts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A hard shot 61 in the game by Dolf Zon from a close distance when the talented Falco Fuchs managed to make a qualified save. Elshout's players were relieved. If Rein Lute had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 66 minutes into the match, Ter Heijde aan Zee's goal looked a bit too open when Rein Lute came free, but Sander Moek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Teun Lamberts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Elshout's Wilfried Ierlandt got a free kick in the 69th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Dolf Zon could shoot a difficult shot in the 70th minute, which Falco Fuchs however easily saved by the left post. Falco Fuchs was out of position in the 71 minute of play, and Teun Lamberts capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Teun Lamberts really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. Sander Moek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rein Lute in the 76th minute of play. Richard Oude Kamphuis hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Teun Lamberts struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Falco Fuchs didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ter Heijde aan Zee. When Elshout's Rein Lute in the 83rd minute got a chance for a shot 83rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ter Heijde aan Zee's goalie prevented a goal. Dolf Zon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Falco Fuchs having to interfere. If Teun Lamberts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Luc Deuring came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Ter Heijde aan Zee fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luc Deuring couldn't finish the play. Ter Heijde aan Zee's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
