In the 6th minute, Filip Meier made a precise shot to the right of Jeffrey Lubbers. Vitesse's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Vitesse's zone, Henry Stekelenburg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeffrey Lubbers came out of the goal and Henry Stekelenburg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 18th minute, Filip Meier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 20th minute, Hans-Cees Wermans got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Taco Wessel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hans-Cees Wermans in the 23rd minute of play. Taco Wessel was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jacobus Ensing showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 25 minute of play. Taco Wessel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martijn Ommen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pijnakker Excelsior's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Martijn Ommen 36 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-1. Martijn Ommen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Taco Wessel made a huge save. Taco Wessel was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Hans-Cees Wermans showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-1 in the 41 minute of play. Hans-Cees Wermans's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Taco Wessel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hans-Cees Wermans was the one to do the kick off. Nathan Pietersma made in the 52nd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Filip Meier. Taco Wessel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hans-Cees Wermans in the 54th minute of play. Taco Wessel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Martijn Ommen went, in the 56th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. 60 minutes into the match, Martijn Ommen had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Taco Wessel. Pijnakker Excelsior's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Martijn Ommen was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. 67 minutes into the match, Martijn Ommen notched a goal, 6-1, to the right of Pijnakker Excelsior's Taco Wessel. Taco Wessel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dirk de Boer kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute Hans-Cees Wermans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Taco Wessel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 73 minutes into the match, Pijnakker Excelsior's goal looked a bit too open when Martijn Ommen came free, but Taco Wessel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Taco Wessel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hans-Cees Wermans in the 74th minute of the match. Taco Wessel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martijn Ommen, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. With a little luck, Vitesse's Jeffrey Lubbers got control of the ball when Joep Deitmers tried to sneak it across the goal line. Taco Wessel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Martijn Ommen went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 8-1 was the resulting score.
