In the 9th minute, Maurice Latten hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Henny Brugmans made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mario Nijsse in the 10th minute of play. Zwaluwen Vooruit's Mario Nijsse got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bruno Borst sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Patrick Paas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruno Borst in the 20th minute of play forced Zwaluwen Vooruit's goalkeeper Arie de Vries to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Patrick Paas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arie de Vries having to interfere. In the 36th minute, Bruno Borst got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Patrick Paas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After 54 minutes DSS Heemskerk's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ralf Zon who took care of the corner kick. 56 minutes had been played when some careless play by DSS Heemskerk's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ralf Zon was slow to take the kick. During this time Zwaluwen Vooruit's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Zwaluwen Vooruit's Ralf Zon to fire away a dangerous shot which Henny Brugmans despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. A collision led to DSS Heemskerk getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Patrick Paas hit a great ball. In the 60th minute Mario Nijsse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henny Brugmans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 64th minute, Mario Nijsse got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 70 minutes into the game, Marick Weken was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. DSS Heemskerk's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Zwaluwen Vooruit the free kick. After a rather tough play, DSS Heemskerk's Marick Weken got a free kick in the 70th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mario Nijsse in the 71st minute of play forced DSS Heemskerk's goalkeeper Henny Brugmans to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75th match minute, DSS Heemskerk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Peter Schol to maneuver through the defense. When Patrick Paas came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the DSS Heemskerk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patrick Paas couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Zwaluwen Vooruit's zone, Bruno Borst stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arie de Vries came out of the goal and Bruno Borst tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 90th minute, Billy Walregt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
