Rogier van Bronckhorst's late challenge caught a IJzerenbrug's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rogier van Bronckhorst helped the player get up and apologised. In the 15th minute Mark Rooy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kristof Teunisse saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maikel Enting kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Kristof Teunisse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hans Stuifzand, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Chris Deitmers kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. IJzerenbrug's Kristof Teunisse played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hans Stuifzand in the 25th minute of play. 27 minutes had been played when some careless play by IJzerenbrug's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Remond Mook was slow to take the kick. During this time Sas's players had a chance to rest. Sas's Remond Mook was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Kristof Teunisse in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 31st match minute, IJzerenbrug was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rik Frankena to maneuver through the defense. After 33 played minutes IJzerenbrug got a freekick which was hit by Maikel Enting. Hans Stuifzand received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Kristof Teunisse tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chris Deitmers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kristof Teunisse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laurens Dekkers in the 47th minute of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hans Stuifzand was the one to do the kick off. Kristof Teunisse made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Laurens Dekkers sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Grasmaaijer in the 63rd minute of play forced Sas's goalkeeper Rinus van Rooijen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kristof Teunisse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hans Stuifzand in the 67th minute of play. When Wim Grasmaaijer came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the IJzerenbrug fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Grasmaaijer couldn't finish the play. Kristof Teunisse made an important save on a dangerous shot by Laurens Dekkers in the 80th minute. Kristof Teunisse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hans Stuifzand, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in IJzerenbrug's zone, Laurens Dekkers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kristof Teunisse came out of the goal and Laurens Dekkers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kristof Teunisse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hans Stuifzand in the 93rd minute of play. Hans Stuifzand fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kristof Teunisse having to interfere. IJzerenbrug succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Sas had controlled the match.
