Jan Paauwe made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Antoon Blom sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Bergen's zone, Dirk Schokkenbroek stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jan Paauwe came out of the goal and Dirk Schokkenbroek tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 30th minute, Antoon Blom fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jan Paauwe, passed just outside the right post. Jan Paauwe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antoon Blom in the 32nd minute of the match. In the 34th minute, Andre de Vogt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bergen's Jan Paauwe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antoon Blom in the 39th minute of play. With his leg Jan Paauwe managed to avoid a goal in the 40thth minute, when AFC Ajax's Dirk Schokkenbroek fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Bergen's Jan Paauwe proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Bergen from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Bergen getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Stefano Deiman hit a great ball. After having played for 45 minutes, Dirk Schokkenbroek managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AFC Ajax's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dirk Schokkenbroek was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Marinus Hulzebos fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bergen's protests and gave Marinus Hulzebos a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Bergen getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Antoon Blom to make the kick off. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by Bergen's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Stijn Scheerhoorn was slow to take the kick. During this time AFC Ajax's players had a chance to rest. Jan Paauwe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dirk Schokkenbroek, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 60thth minute of the game Dirk Schokkenbroek who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bergen's Jan Paauwe was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bergen's Jan Paauwe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dirk Schokkenbroek in the 70th minute of play. 71 minutes into the match, AFC Ajax's goal looked a bit too open when Henk Tinge came free, but Jan Rein Bosma reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 73 minutes, Antoon Blom made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. Bergen's Jan Paauwe tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 77th minute, Wilco Alberda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Antoon Blom blasted a shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jan Paauwe having to make a save. Jan Paauwe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antoon Blom, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Antoon Blom fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan Paauwe having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Bergen's Stefano Deiman got a free kick in the 89th minute.
