Egbert Legdeur could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Frans Theissen made a huge save. In the 14th match minute, Buitenhuizen VV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerald Blikman to maneuver through the defense. Egbert Legdeur fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frans Theissen having to interfere. Meindert van der Doelen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gerald Blikman hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Meindert van der Doelen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Frans Theissen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Buitenhuizen VV's Frans Theissen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Meindert van der Doelen in the 30th minute of play. Alex Zorge was shown his second yellow card after 34 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 34 played minutes Buitenhuizen VV got a freekick which was hit by Alex Zorge. When Egbert Legdeur came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Moordrecht fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Egbert Legdeur couldn't finish the play. Frans Theissen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Egbert Legdeur in the 42nd minute. If Egbert Legdeur had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bernard de Rooy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Harm Drenth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 48th minute, Ronny Oosterhof got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Meindert van der Doelen made a kick off. Egbert Legdeur sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Buitenhuizen VV's zone, Meindert van der Doelen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frans Theissen came out of the goal and Meindert van der Doelen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Meindert van der Doelen in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Frans Theissen saved Buitenhuizen VV from getting behind. Meindert van der Doelen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Frans Theissen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. Egbert Legdeur spun around in front of the goal 73 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Buitenhuizen VV's goal. Frans Theissen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Meindert van der Doelen, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Meindert van der Doelen might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Frans Theissen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Meindert van der Doelen ran back to his position shaking his head. If Meindert van der Doelen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 86 minutes into the match, Moordrecht's goal looked a bit too open when Bernard de Rooy came free, but Harm Drenth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 93rd minute Meindert van der Doelen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frans Theissen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 98 minutes, Bernard de Rooy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Buitenhuizen VV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernard de Rooy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
