Focsani Thunder FC's Koen de Graaf got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 6th minute Harm Lubbers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karel Lodewijks saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 9th minute, Jim Thomasse got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Karel Lodewijks made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marco van Rhijn in the 10th minute. Harm Lubberss short, quick shot in the 11thth minute got Karel Lodewijks to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Koen de Graaf might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Karel Lodewijks. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Koen de Graaf ran back to his position shaking his head. If Harm Lubbers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Focsani Thunder FC's Rinus Israel in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Fred Panter showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Karel Lodewijks made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Harm Lubbers sent off a good shot on target. Harm Lubbers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Karel Lodewijks read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Karel Lodewijks took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Častislav Kutnar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Focsani Thunder FC's Harm Lubbers in the 35th minute got a chance for a shot 35th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 40 minutes in the game, Harm Lubbers fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Karel Lodewijks having to interfere. After having played for 41 minutes, Fred Panter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Focsani Thunder FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fred Panter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ivo Melis made a kick off. The audience was convinced that Harm Lubbers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Karel Lodewijks was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Harm Lubbers in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Karel Lodewijks prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 56 minutes into the match, Real Madrid CF's goal looked a bit too open when Jim Thomasse came free, but Karel Lodewijks reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rinus Israel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Harm Lubbers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karel Lodewijks having to interfere. 61 minutes into the match, Real Madrid CF's goal looked a bit too open when Fred Panter came free, but Karel Lodewijks reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fred Panter in the 65th minute of play forced Real Madrid CF's goalkeeper Karel Lodewijks to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ivo Melis hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. After 72 minutes, Roderick Grijp mouthed his way into the referee's book. Harm Lubbers struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Karel Lodewijks didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Focsani Thunder FC. 85 minutes into the match, Focsani Thunder FC's Harm Lubbers sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Karel Lodewijks narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Harm Lubbers in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Karel Lodewijks saved Real Madrid CF from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Harm Lubbers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Karel Lodewijks was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game. Karel Lodewijks stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Harm Lubbers's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. After having played for 96 minutes, Harm Lubbers managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
