In the 10thth minute of the game Jaap Kolkman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Nieuwenhoorn Excelsior's Wilco Mulders was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Huib Zuiverloon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting Frisia's supporters rose to their feet, but Huib Zuiverloon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilco Mulders breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Wilco Mulders made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Huib Zuiverloon sent off a good shot on target. Wilco Mulders made an important save on a dangerous shot by Huib Zuiverloon in the 43rd minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaap Kolkman was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Sporting Frisia's goalkeeper Huib Diest had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nigel van der Vaart.
