In the 2nd match minute, Klinkenberg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Derk Karremans to maneuver through the defense. 10 minutes into the match, Holwierda HC's goal looked a bit too open when Jack ten Rouwelaar came free, but Wilfried Lyle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stefan van Fessum fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Foeke Bruintjes having to interfere. In the 18th minute, Stefan van Fessum got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Adriaan Saanen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Foeke Bruintjes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jack ten Rouwelaar in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wilfried Lyle saved Holwierda HC from getting behind. If Stefan van Fessum had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Foeke Bruintjes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adriaan Saanen in the 32nd minute of play. Foeke Bruintjes made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Stefan van Fessum sent off a good shot on target. Klinkenberg's Foeke Bruintjes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adriaan Saanen in the 36th minute of play. Danny Gasteren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Holwierda HC booed when Klinkenberg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joris Mos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Stefan van Fessum could shoot a difficult shot in the 41st minute, which Foeke Bruintjes however easily saved by the left post. When Stefan van Fessum came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Holwierda HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stefan van Fessum couldn't finish the play. Wilfried Lyle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jack ten Rouwelaar in the 47th minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half.
