An unexpected shot in the 40th minute by Mike Spiljard got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Albert Meurs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mike Spiljard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Ben Zoolingen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Albert Meurs recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mike Spiljard blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ben Zoolingen having to make a save. If Albert Meurs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mike Spiljard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
