The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Inter Traaie's Steven Schoenmakers got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Thijs Engbers recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. HFC Haarlem's Damien Zegeling played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jasper Schoenmakers in the 7th minute of play. Damien Zegeling took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jasper Schoenmakers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A hard shot by Johannes Nordin from long distance, 12 minutes into the match, got Klaas van Zijderveld's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After 14 minutes of play, Inter Traaie's Marinus Collen made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Damien Zegeling was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Werner Rieks in the 17th minute of play forced Inter Traaie's goalkeeper Klaas van Zijderveld to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes into the game, Werner Rieks lined in a short shot 1-1 behind a frustrated Klaas van Zijderveld. Jasper Schoenmakers struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Damien Zegeling didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Inter Traaie. Werner Rieks who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 31stth minute tested the skills of Klaas van Zijderveld when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Damien Need fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Klaas van Zijderveld having to interfere. Werner Rieks didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 2-1 via right post in the game's 39th minute. HFC Haarlem's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! Werner Rieks in the 42ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Klaas van Zijderveld, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Werner Rieks made a kick off. Damien Zegeling made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jasper Schoenmakers in the 54th minute. Leandro Birjaio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Klaas van Zijderveld having to interfere. Werner Rieks received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Klaas van Zijderveld tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 73rd minute, Leandro Birjaio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Klaas van Zijderveld was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. Marinus Collen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Damien Zegeling tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
