The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Auke van Wonderen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommie de Vlieger having to interfere. Berend Vrieze fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bill Korfs having to interfere. Doetinchem Excelsior's Tommie de Vlieger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arjen Das in the 16th minute of play. Doetinchem Excelsior's Lennart Gerseke pulled a muscle in his back after 17 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Arjen Das charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arjen Das the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Doetinchem Excelsior booed when Viko was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arjen Das didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arjan de Winter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Simon Sándor's late challenge caught a Doetinchem Excelsior's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Simon Sándor helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Viko getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Simon Sándor hit a great ball. Berend Vrieze could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Bill Korfs made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arjen Das in the 28th minute of play forced Doetinchem Excelsior's goalkeeper Tommie de Vlieger to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 32 minutes into the game, Viko's Arjen Das nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tommie de Vlieger made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Tommie de Vlieger didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Arjen Das went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Viko were winning 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Berend Vrieze made a kick off. Auke van Wonderen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Auke van Wonderens short, quick shot in the 58thth minute got Tommie de Vlieger to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Auke van Wonderen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tommie de Vlieger read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Doetinchem Excelsior's Gerrit Bosma got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Tommie de Vlieger made an important save on a dangerous shot by Auke van Wonderen in the 66th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Arjen Das managed to get in a good position for a shot. Viko's supporters rose to their feet, but Arjen Das was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommie de Vlieger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Arjen Das recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Doetinchem Excelsior's Tommie de Vlieger played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arjen Das in the 77th minute of play. Auke van Wonderen struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Tommie de Vlieger didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Viko. Theo Schimmel's late challenge caught a Viko's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Theo Schimmel helped the player get up and apologised. 82 minutes into the game, one of Doetinchem Excelsior:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Tommie de Vlieger had in the 84thth minute some difficulties stopping Ferdi Scheer's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his right side, but he still managed to hold the ball Tommie de Vlieger was a little too slow when Ferdi Scheer got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 84th minute. The score was now 0-4. Auke van Wonderen's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Tommie de Vlieger firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 91st minute, Auke van Wonderen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Arjen Das fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommie de Vlieger having to interfere. 100 minutes into the match, Doetinchem Excelsior's goalkeeper Tommie de Vlieger had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Auke van Wonderen. The Doetinchem Excelsior fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Viko were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
