Frederik Dalmeijer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jan Wit scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dolf Schut, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Westerhoeve Eendracht booed when Samsunspor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pieter-Jan Hebert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Andre Middel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Werner Ronde came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Westerhoeve Eendracht fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Werner Ronde couldn't finish the play. Samsunspor's Robbie Meijer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Werner Ronde in the 24th minute of play. In the 25th match minute, Samsunspor was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dennis Kip to maneuver through the defense. In the 27thth minute of the game Werner Ronde who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Samsunspor's Robbie Meijer was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Klaas Ruben kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Werner Ronde received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Robbie Meijer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 33 minutes into the game, Allard Rijkaard cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Robbie Meijer was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Robbie Meijer made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Allard Rijkaard sent off a good shot on target. Robbie Meijer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Allard Rijkaard in the 38th minute. After a rather tough play, Samsunspor's Rein Derks got a free kick in the 39th minute. In the 40th minute of the match, Allard Rijkaard got a very nice opportunity to score, but Robbie Meijer was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Robbie Meijer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Werner Ronde, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Frederik Dalmeijer hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Theo Heebels struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Dolf Schut didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Samsunspor. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Werner Ronde fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robbie Meijer having to interfere. Samsunspor's Robbie Meijer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Allard Rijkaard in the 64th minute of play. After having played for 71 minutes, Jan Wit managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Samsunspor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jan Wit was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dennis Kip hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. 74 minutes into the match, Samsunspor's goal looked a bit too open when Allard Rijkaard came free, but Robbie Meijer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Werner Ronde's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Robbie Meijer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. Robbie Meijer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Werner Ronde, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. If Jan Wit had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Samsunspor's Robbie Meijer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Allard Rijkaard in the 83rd minute of play. In the 85th minute, Coenraad Verweijen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 88th minute, Allard Rijkaard got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 91 minutes into the game, one of Westerhoeve Eendracht:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Dolf Schut went to the wrong direction when Pieter-Jan Hebert was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. 96 minutes into the match, Samsunspor's goal looked a bit too open when Allard Rijkaard came free, but Robbie Meijer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Allard Rijkaard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Westerhoeve Eendracht were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Samsunspor for a fine match.
