Robert-Jan Andriessen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ferdi Dowie, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. In the 20th minute Frank Kun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dirk Baalen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 21 minutes into the match, Hoogriebroek's goal looked a bit too open when Kristian Daalmeyer came free, but Robert-Jan Andriessen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 25 minutes into the match, AS Pile's goalkeeper Dirk Baalen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jens Zeydeveld. Andy Schuurman hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. In the 28th minute, Toni Harmens made a precise shot to the right of Robert-Jan Andriessen. Hoogriebroek's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Hoogriebroek's zone, Toni Harmens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robert-Jan Andriessen came out of the goal and Toni Harmens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fred Pals was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 32 minutes into the match. The supporters of AS Pile booed when Hoogriebroek was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fred Pals didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Hoogriebroek's goal looked a bit too open when Ferdi Dowie came free, but Robert-Jan Andriessen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Robert-Jan Andriessen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ferdi Dowie in the 40th minute of the match. Folker Hofland's late challenge caught a Hoogriebroek's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Folker Hofland helped the player get up and apologised. In the 41st minute, one of AS Pile:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for AS Pile. The referee gave Hoogriebroek a penalty, 42 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Frits Zegwaard, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of AS Pile's Dirk Baalen. 2-2. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Toni Harmens to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 62nd minute, AS Pile's Folker Hofland seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Folker Hofland the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of AS Pile protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Folker Hofland had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 62 minutes into the game, one of AS Pile:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 67th minute Ferdi Dowie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robert-Jan Andriessen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hoogriebroek's Robert-Jan Andriessen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hans Klaus in the 78th minute of play.
