After 17 minutes, Martijn Staal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the St. Stefanie and the FC Hersilia Zevenbergen players grew even worse after the yellow card. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rudi van Dalen was the one to do the kick off. Fernando Brans fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Freek de Zeeuw having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Richard van der Gouw in the 67th minute of play forced St. Stefanie's goalkeeper Freek de Zeeuw to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
