Sjoerd Stroobos started the match with the kick off. Menno Meier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Rogier Boon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stijn Molenaar got free with Niels Roelofs in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Menno Meier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rogier Boon having to interfere. With a little luck, SOAD FC's Niels Roelofs got control of the ball when Stijn Molenaar tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Abraham Vorenkamp took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Niels Roelofs to make any attempt to save it. Rogier Boon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sjoerd Stroobos, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. In the 20th minute, Menno Meier got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sjoerd Stroobos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Rogier Boon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 28 minutes into the match, SOAD FC's goalkeeper Niels Roelofs had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Stijn Molenaar. When Sjoerd Stroobos came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the SOAD FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sjoerd Stroobos couldn't finish the play. Abraham Vorenkamp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, SOAD FC's Niels Roelofs got control of the ball when Stijn Molenaar tried to sneak it across the goal line. Niels Roelofs stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Abraham Vorenkamp's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. 43 minutes into the match, Sjoerd Stroobos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rogier Boon. Varselder S.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sjoerd Stroobos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Abraham Vorenkamp was the one to do the kick off. Henk Roodenburg tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Niels Roelofs. An unnecessary self made goal, 2-1 in the 52nd minute. Kelvin van den Eede kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sjoerd Stroobos during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Sjoerd Stroobos managed to get in a good position for a shot. SOAD FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Sjoerd Stroobos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rogier Boon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Varselder S.C. fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 65th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Rogier Boon, was totally fooled by SOAD FC's Henk Roodenburg, who 68 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Menno Meier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Rogier Boon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stijn Molenaar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Niels Roelofs having to interfere. 79 minutes into the match, SOAD FC's goal looked a bit too open when Abraham Vorenkamp came free, but Niels Roelofs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Niels Roelofs showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abraham Vorenkamp in the 80th minute of the match. Stijn Molenaar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 88th minute, SOAD FC's Sjoerd Stroobos ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Rogier Boon. Rogier Boon yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. Lex Nieuwendijk's late challenge caught a SOAD FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lex Nieuwendijk helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Varselder S.C.'s Lex Nieuwendijk got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Sjoerd Stroobos struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Rogier Boon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SOAD FC. The SOAD FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing SOAD FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
