An unexpectedly hard shot by Godfried van Driest in the 4th minute of play forced Warande S.C.'s goalkeeper Vincent Haas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfred Tevreden couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Meliestraat SC's Tomas Overmars got a free kick in the 46th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Godfried van Driest to make the kick off. Wouter Jurjens ran back to his position shaking his head. The Meliestraat SC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Meliestraat SC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
