The Eppenhuizen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricky Saarloos should have stopped the shot. Humberto Hesp fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricky Saarloos having to interfere. 23 minutes into the match, Eppenhuizen's goal looked a bit too open when Edgard Mülder came free, but Ricky Saarloos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eppenhuizen's Tonnie de Zeeuw got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 31 minutes, Humberto Hesp mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the 1. FC Schwalbe and the Eppenhuizen players grew even worse after the yellow card. 1. FC Schwalbe's Reinhard de Jong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlo Meulman in the 33rd minute of play. Ricky Saarloos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kurt Zondervan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Klaus Schol managed to get in a good position for a shot. 1. FC Schwalbe's supporters rose to their feet, but Klaus Schol was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricky Saarloos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of 1. FC Schwalbe booed when Eppenhuizen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joeri Heerspink didn't get a good kick on the ball. Evert Rogaars, 43 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Humberto Hesp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 46th minute, Humberto Hesp ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ricky Saarloos was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After a rather tough play, Eppenhuizen's Ferdi Mosselveld got a free kick in the 54th minute. Ricky Saarloos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kurt Zondervan in the 63rd minute of the match. If Humberto Hesp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Klaus Schol came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the 1. FC Schwalbe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Klaus Schol couldn't finish the play. Evert Rogaars hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Reinhard de Jong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tonnie de Zeeuw, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Klaus Schol's late challenge caught a Eppenhuizen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Klaus Schol helped the player get up and apologised. 1. FC Schwalbe's Arne Bouwman was substituted for Humberto Hesp. 78 minutes into the match, Kurt Zondervan dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ricky Saarloos, 0-3. When Arne Bouwman came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the 1. FC Schwalbe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arne Bouwman couldn't finish the play. 82 minutes into the match, 1. FC Schwalbe's Arne Bouwman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ricky Saarloos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ricky Saarloos made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Edgard Mülder sent off a good shot on target. If Arne Bouwman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ricky Saarloos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kurt Zondervan in the 94th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Eppenhuizen's zone, Arne Bouwman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricky Saarloos came out of the goal and Arne Bouwman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 1. FC Schwalbe's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
