The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ate Kik showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The corner ended in Alfred Tevreden almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Wolfsberg HC's Frits Tanis did a great save. The audience was convinced that Godfried van Driest's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Frits Tanis was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. 17 minutes into the game, Alfred Batenburg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Godfried van Driest might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Frits Tanis. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Godfried van Driest ran back to his position shaking his head. Wolfsberg HC's Frits Tanis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Godfried van Driest in the 35th minute of play. Frits Tanis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Heiko Driessens in the 36th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Godfried van Driest managed to get in a good position for a shot. Meliestraat SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Godfried van Driest was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frits Tanis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 40 minutes, Aad Kimman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wolfsberg HC and the Meliestraat SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Meliestraat SC booed when Wolfsberg HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aad Kimman didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Meliestraat SC's Godfried van Driest in 44 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. In the 66thth minute of the game Joost van der Leegte who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Wolfsberg HC's Frits Tanis was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Frits Tanis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Godfried van Driest's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. Joost van der Leegte fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frits Tanis having to interfere. Meliestraat SC's Godfried van Driest got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Frits Tanis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Godfried van Driest, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Heiko Driessens blasted a shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Frits Tanis having to make a save. Godfried van Driest's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Frits Tanis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Wolfsberg HC's Frits Tanis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jan-Willem Scholte in the 84th minute of play. Philip van der Sar charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Philip van der Sar the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Meliestraat SC's Joost van der Leegte got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
