The referee ignored Oegstgeest Excelsior's protests and gave Daan Tanis a yellow card for diving instead. In the 5th match minute, Oegstgeest Excelsior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daan Tanis to maneuver through the defense. If Edward Robben had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edward Otten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Henk Spaan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Otten in the 7th minute of play. Edward Robben took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Henk Spaan. Henk Spaan dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Oegstgeest Excelsior's zone, Edward Otten stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Henk Spaan came out of the goal and Edward Otten tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Burgh HC's Edward Otten in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Oegstgeest Excelsior's goalie prevented a goal. 16 minutes into the match, Edward Robben had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Henk Spaan. Oegstgeest Excelsior's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edward Robben was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. 20 minutes into the match, Oegstgeest Excelsior's goal looked a bit too open when Edward Otten came free, but Henk Spaan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 27 minutes of play, Burgh HC's Edward Otten made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Henk Spaan was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Oegstgeest Excelsior getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Dick Andriessen hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edward Otten in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Henk Spaan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edward Robben in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Henk Spaan saved Oegstgeest Excelsior from getting behind. When Roderick Kooij came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Oegstgeest Excelsior fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roderick Kooij couldn't finish the play. After having played for 43 minutes, Edward Robben managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Burgh HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edward Robben was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edward Robben recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edward Otten fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henk Spaan having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edward Otten to strike the kick off in the second half. Henk Paauwe charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Henk Paauwe the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Oegstgeest Excelsior booed when Burgh HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henk Paauwe didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Oegstgeest Excelsior's Franck Hemmen got a free kick in the 78th minute. Edward Robben succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-6 in the 79th playminute. Henk Spaan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Otten, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. A collision led to Oegstgeest Excelsior getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Franck Hemmen hit a great ball. Henk Spaan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edward Robben in the 94th minute. After having played for 98 minutes, Edward Robben managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Burgh HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edward Robben was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Burgh HC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
