With a left leg Douwe Velez saved Go Ahead Eagles from getting behind. 25 minutes into the match, Vleut RKSV's goal looked a bit too open when Jhon de Kort came free, but Coenraad Genkenaar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 26th minute, Go Ahead Eagles's Jhon de Kort dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. In the 32nd minute, Pierre Hanekamp got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vleut RKSV's Coenraad Genkenaar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jhon de Kort in the 36th minute of play. Gerard Jacobs hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. In the 41st minute, Jhon de Kort got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Gerrie Heije's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Douwe Velez was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. Roland van Zijl sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Vleut RKSV's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Roland van Zijl was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. The Vleut RKSV fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Gerrie Heije scored 3-2 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Douwe Velez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jhon de Kort recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 97 minutes into the game, Ruud Rodenberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Go Ahead Eagles's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vleut RKSV the free kick. The supporters of Vleut RKSV booed when Go Ahead Eagles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ruud Rodenberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Go Ahead Eagles were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Vleut RKSV for a fine match.
