Spectators: 7958 (Terracing: 6000, Seating: 1800, VIP seats: 158) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Ernst Stekelenburg got the match started through his kick off. Hendrik-Jan Schildkamp fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Berry Blanc having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Falco Degens in the 10th minute of play forced Bergeijk's goalkeeper Berry Blanc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Daan Mos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hendrik-Jan Schildkamp kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 15thth minute. Though ot was a great shot Bergeijk's keeper Berry Blanc was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. In the 34th minute, Bert Plaggenborg reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Berry Blanc. The goal made the score 1-0. Daan Mos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 40 minutes into the game, Iwan Lyesen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bergeijk's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Zijlberg the free kick. The supporters of Zijlberg booed when Bergeijk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iwan Lyesen didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Zijlberg's goalkeeper Klaus van Veldhuizen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 47 minutes into the match, Bergeijk's Ernst Stekelenburg sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Klaus van Veldhuizen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Falco Degens to make the kick off. One of Bergeijk:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Zijlberg:s goal. Bergeijk's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rick Germs was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Zijlberg fans cheered their team off the field, for while Bergeijk had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
