In the 16th minute, Mathieu Schophuis left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Zwagerveen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Jacco van de Meerakker hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Zijlberg's zone, Mathieu Schophuis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Klaus van Veldhuizen came out of the goal and Mathieu Schophuis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Zijlberg's goalkeeper Klaus van Veldhuizen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 25th minute Mathieu Schophuis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Klaus van Veldhuizen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hans Veen charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hans Veen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Zijlberg booed when Zwagerveen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hans Veen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Maurice Lyesen might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Foeke Assendelft. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Klaus van Veldhuizen was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mathieu Schophuis in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Klaus van Veldhuizen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mathieu Schophuis in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Klaus van Veldhuizen saved Zijlberg from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rogier de Kort in the 38th minute of play forced Zijlberg's goalkeeper Klaus van Veldhuizen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mark Heitinga scored 0-4 in the 41st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Klaus van Veldhuizen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Klaus van Veldhuizen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mathieu Schophuis, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Klaus van Veldhuizen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marc Olfers in the 46th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Zijlberg's Hans Hoogenkamp got a free kick in the 49th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Falco Degens made the kick off in the second half.
