After 16 minutes of play, FC Feyenoord's Foeke Plescher made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jan Israel was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Foeke Plescher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Foeke Plescher came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the FC Feyenoord fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Foeke Plescher couldn't finish the play. 27 minutes into the game, Arno Cruijff lined in a short shot 3-0 behind a frustrated Jan Israel. After a defensive mix-up in FC Feyenoord's zone, Ronald Hofman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Presebal came out of the goal and Ronald Hofman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Foeke Plescher to strike the kick off in the second half. Jan Israel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arno Cruijff in the 54th minute of play. Jan Israel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There was no doubt that FC Feyenoord were the better team. FC Feyenoord's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
