In the 5th minute Gert Wagenaar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafael Rijkaard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Harold Kauffeld during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 9 minutes into the match, FC Bakbeest's goal looked a bit too open when Gert Wagenaar came free, but Rafael Rijkaard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Franck Akkerman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 17 minutes into the game, Folker Zoetebier cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Thijs Iepmann was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 34 minutes into the game, Richard Dalman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Bakbeest's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Limmerkoog the free kick. After 34 played minutes FC Bakbeest got a freekick which was hit by Richard Dalman. Rafael Rijkaard showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Harold Kauffeld in the 35th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Limmerkoog's Harold Kauffeld got a free kick in the 39th minute. Thijs Iepmann showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Franck Akkerman, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Jelte Nieuwburg struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Thijs Iepmann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Bakbeest. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

In the 52nd match minute, FC Bakbeest was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diderik Daamen to maneuver through the defense. In the 53rd minute of the match Bertus van Nistelrooij sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rafael Rijkaard skillfully saved the ball. 69 minutes into the match, Jelte Nieuwburg notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Limmerkoog's Thijs Iepmann. Thijs Iepmann was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Gerben Senden fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Bakbeest's protests and gave Gerben Senden a yellow card for diving instead. After 82 played minutes FC Bakbeest got a freekick which was hit by Gerben Senden. FC Bakbeest's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
