In the 27th minute Casper Zandstra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaap Hoogsteen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Giel Kleine charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Giel Kleine the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of NBSVV booed when Terhorne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giel Kleine didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Casper Zandstra in the 29th minute of play forced Terhorne's goalkeeper Jaap Hoogsteen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Steven Hanekamp in the 32nd minute of play forced NBSVV's goalkeeper Sebastian Cristofol to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jaap Hoogsteen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Casper Zandstra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Casper Zandstra in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jaap Hoogsteen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 42nd minute Riemer Klerk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastian Cristofol saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sebastian Cristofol made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mark Ravenbergen in the 46th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Casper Zandstra made the kick off in the second half. After 57 played minutes NBSVV got a freekick which was hit by Albert Kruijs. 59 minutes into the match, NBSVV's goal looked a bit too open when Steven Hanekamp came free, but Sebastian Cristofol reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sebastian Cristofol showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Steven Hanekamp, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. 66 minutes into the match, Steven Hanekamp had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sebastian Cristofol. NBSVV's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Steven Hanekamp was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Jonathan van der Werff hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Frederik Stuijvenberg took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 73rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sebastian Cristofol. NBSVV's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Riemer Klerk in the 80th minute of play forced NBSVV's goalkeeper Sebastian Cristofol to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Terhorne were awarded a corner in the 81th minute after NBSVV's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Giel Kleine took the corner. Jaap Hoogsteen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Casper Zandstra scored 1-1 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jaap Hoogsteen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
