Bernard Reitsema dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 34 minutes into the match, Punten's goal looked a bit too open when Jordi Spijker came free, but Bernard Reitsema reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jordi Spijker scored 0-2 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bernard Reitsema, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 40 minutes into the game, Punten's Marco Cranenburgh nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fábio Proença made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Coos Eising hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. The supporters of Punten booed when Schoonbron was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hans Zijden didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ate Deiman was the one to do the kick off. Bernard Reitsema showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilson de Lima, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. 67 minutes into the match, Punten's goal looked a bit too open when Wilson de Lima came free, but Bernard Reitsema reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 68th minute, Albert Beerthuis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jan Hendrik Deinse received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Thanks to some nice moves Wilson de Lima could shoot a difficult shot in the 81st minute, which Bernard Reitsema however easily saved by the left post. Sjoerd van Heiningen's late challenge caught a Schoonbron's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
