Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) fc groningwn's Hette Seedorf started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 5th minute, Geert Arend Molhoek reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Hans Kok. The goal made the score 1-0. Geert Arend Molhoek struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Hans Kok didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for fc groningwn. 8 minutes into the match, Vitesse Arnhem's goalkeeper Hans Kok had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hendrik van Loo. In the 11th minute, Geert Arend Molhoek hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hette Seedorf received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Hans Kok tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Reinier Zwartkruis kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. In the 25th minute, Vitesse Arnhem's Sinforiano Nicolaescu seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Sinforiano Nicolaescu the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Vitesse Arnhem protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Sinforiano Nicolaescu had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 25 minutes into the game, one of Vitesse Arnhem:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Reinier Zwartkruis shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Hans Kok made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Hendrik van Loo sent off a good shot on target. If Geert Arend Molhoek had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 41 minutes of play, Vitesse Arnhem's Martin Zevenberg made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jan-Willem Rijkaard was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Hendrik van Loo managed to get in a good position for a shot. fc groningwn's supporters rose to their feet, but Hendrik van Loo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hans Kok breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Martin Zevenberg stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jacco Trip received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Hans Kok tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. fc groningwn's Jan-Willem Rijkaard proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save fc groningwn from getting a goal against them. Hans Kok took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geert Arend Molhoek, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Martin Zevenberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 84 minutes into the match, Vitesse Arnhem's goal looked a bit too open when Hette Seedorf came free, but Hans Kok reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hette Seedorf in the 87th minute of play forced Vitesse Arnhem's goalkeeper Hans Kok to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hendrik van Loo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hette Seedorf scored 7-1 in the 91st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hans Kok, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Hans Kok showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hendrik van Loo in the 94th minute of the match. In the 96th minute, Geert Arend Molhoek ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hans Kok was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-1. When the referee ended the match the fc groningwn players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
