After having played for 3 minutes, Martin van Gessel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ajax's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martin van Gessel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Taco Kamps could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Ronald Velthuis made a huge save. Martin van Gessel struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Lukas Sundén didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ajax. In the 8th match minute, Hogeweg FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tommie Reinders to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin van Gessel in the 9th minute of play forced Hogeweg FC's goalkeeper Lukas Sundén to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tommie Reinders kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. After 14 played minutes, ajax's Jan-Joost Telkamp shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Lukas Sundén came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in ajax reached it. After 22 minutes, Martin van Gessel made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Hogeweg FC's Lukas Sundén tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Peter Driel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Lukas Sundén tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30thth minute of the game Martin van Gessel who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hogeweg FC's Lukas Sundén was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Leon Vliet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Ronald Velthuis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. ajax's Karsten van Ankeren got his second yellow card of the match in the 34th minute. The referee ordered Karsten van Ankeren off the ground. The supporters of Hogeweg FC booed when ajax was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Karsten van Ankeren didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Peter Driel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lukas Sundén was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. Taco Kamps could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Ronald Velthuis made a huge save. After 41 played minutes ajax got a freekick which was hit by Roderick Scheper. Leon Vliet charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Leon Vliet the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 42nd minute, Leon Vliet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Peter Driel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half ajax were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After a rather tough play, ajax's Jan-Joost Telkamp got a free kick in the 64th minute. Arvid Melin hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Peter Driel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ronald Velthuis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leon Vliet went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Peter Driel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ronald Velthuis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Taco Kamps in the 81st minute of the match. Taco Kamps blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ronald Velthuis having to make a save. 91 minutes into the match, Hogeweg FC's Arvid Melin broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The Hogeweg FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching ajax's performance. The match ended with a win for ajax.
