The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The crowd rose to their feet as MVV Maastricht's Mathijs de Zee slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Niyazi Koçarslan. That made the score 1-0 after 3 minutes of play. Sjef de Haan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dan Alb, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ricky Mol hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Maarten Colen scored 2-0 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Niyazi Koçarslan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 17th minute Maarten Colen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niyazi Koçarslan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 17 minutes in the game, Maarten Colen dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. After a rather tough play, Menzel SV's Bemabe Malburgo got a free kick in the 19th minute. MVV Maastricht's Sjef de Haan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 吴鸿益 in the 22nd minute of play. Dan Alb scored 2-1 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sjef de Haan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Through an outstanding action, after 27 minutes, Niyazi Koçarslan successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Niyazi Koçarslan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Maarten Colen in the 30th minute. Mathijs de Zee scored 3-1 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Niyazi Koçarslan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 36 minutes into the match, MVV Maastricht's goal looked a bit too open when Dan Alb came free, but Sjef de Haan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to MVV Maastricht getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Maurits Ruben hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Bailey Tangø's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sjef de Haan was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. Sjef de Haan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dan Alb went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Dan Alb sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Maarten Colen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 59 played minutes Menzel SV got a freekick which was hit by Bemabe Malburgo. In the 63rd minute, MVV Maastricht's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Dan Alb fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Bailey Tangø received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Sjef de Haan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 71st minute, Dan Alb reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Sjef de Haan. The goal made the score 3-3. After 75 played minutes MVV Maastricht got a freekick which was hit by Maarten Colen. The supporters of MVV Maastricht booed when Menzel SV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Izaak Moorman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bailey Tangø in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sjef de Haan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Niyazi Koçarslan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Maurits Ruben's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. A collision led to MVV Maastricht getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Ricky Mol hit a great ball. Wawrzyniec Fafinski kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. In the 94th match minute, Menzel SV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Waesbergen to maneuver through the defense. 96 minutes into the game, Maurits Ruben was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. MVV Maastricht's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Menzel SV the free kick.
