The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th minute, Northern Titans's Menno Heck dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. José Neto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pieter Kaspers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mieszko Jarosiewicz hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. In the 14th minute, Neeme Van Achteren made a precise shot to the right of José Neto. Zutphen SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. In the 17th minute of the match, Menno Heck tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but José Neto saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Jurgen Buskermolen came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Zutphen SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jurgen Buskermolen couldn't finish the play. 19 minutes into the game, Northern Titans's Neeme Van Achteren nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. José Neto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. In the 22nd minute, Northern Titans's Jan Geers ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind José Neto. José Neto yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 5-0. José Neto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Menno Heck, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 31st minute, Northern Titans's Menno Heck dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 7-0. In the 33rd minute, Jan Geers ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. José Neto was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0. José Neto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jan Geers in the 39th minute. José Neto came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Northern Titans's Jan Geers. But to his dismay, Jan Geers quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 9-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 10-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Neeme Van Achteren stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. José Neto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Neeme Van Achteren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 54th match minute, Zutphen SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pim Sterenberg to maneuver through the defense. 55 minutes into the match, Northern Titans's Menno Heck broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Lucien van Damme made in the 57th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Northern Titans's Felix Lembeck. Northern Titans's Jan-Joost Zevenhuizen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Northern Titans from getting a goal against them. In a very dangerous position, a player in Northern Titans fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 62nd minute. Penalty! Jan-Joost Zevenhuizen had in the 65thth minute some difficulties stopping Johan Vázquez's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The excitement rose when Zutphen SC's Johan Vázquez after 65 played minutes turned away three defenders near the goal, and after that shot a ball that was too difficult for Northern Titans's goalkeeper to hold. Score! 10-1. José Neto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Neeme Van Achteren in the 72nd minute of the match. In the 76th minute, Lucien van Damme hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Neeme Van Achteren in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck José Neto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 84th minute, Neeme Van Achteren made a precise shot to the right of José Neto. Zutphen SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 14-1. A collision led to Northern Titans getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Menno Heck hit a great ball. In the 92nd minute Neeme Van Achteren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Neto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Northern Titans's Jan-Joost Zevenhuizen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Northern Titans from getting a goal against them. José Neto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Neeme Van Achteren in the 95th minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Northern Titans fully deserved thier win.
