José Neto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Huub Kramer, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Japke Sybring hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Yorrick Roorda got free with Rob Kort in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half Biervliet were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 52nd minute Yorrick Roorda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rob Kort saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mathieu Weken's late challenge caught a Zutphen SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mathieu Weken helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Zutphen SC booed when Biervliet was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. A wasted opportunity for Biervliet. 74 minutes into the game, Pim Sterenberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Zutphen SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Biervliet the free kick. Thanks to some nice moves Fred Ferreira could shoot a difficult shot in the 75th minute, which José Neto however easily saved by the left post. In the 77th minute, Ab van Zwam ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. José Neto was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 80th minute, Mathieu Weken hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dave Witting took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 81st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rob Kort. Biervliet's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Zutphen SC's goalkeeper José Neto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Fred Ferreira took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Neto. José Neto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Florian Deuring kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. After 95 minutes of play, Biervliet's Filip de Vries made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. José Neto was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Zutphen SC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Biervliet's performance. The match ended with a win for Biervliet.
